“Himalaya Cup International Student Painting Competition” is jointly organized by more than ten educational institutions or schools from different countries around the world, including Canada Canlives. The participants will be primary and secondary school students from over 50 countries.

Main Objectives:

  1. Stimulate creativity and imagination: The painting competition provides students with a platform to showcase their creativity and imagination. By participating in the competition, students can unleash their artistic talents and create unique and innovative artworks.
  2. Foster artistic interest and talent: Through participation in the competition, students have the opportunity to showcase their talents in painting and receive recognition and encouragement from a professional judging panel. This helps cultivate students’ interest in art and inspires them to further explore and develop in the field of art.
  3. Promote cross-cultural exchange and understanding: The international painting competition attracts students from different countries and cultural backgrounds to participate. Through their artworks, students express their understanding and perspectives on different cultures, values, and issues, promoting cross-cultural exchange and understanding.
  4. Enhance social awareness and engagement: By participating in the competition, students can deeply reflect on and express their concerns and awareness of issues such as environmental protection, social welfare, cultural diversity, life ideals, and goals through art. This inspires social engagement and awareness.
  5. Boost confidence and self-expression: Winning awards or having the opportunity to exhibit can boost students’ confidence and encourage them to bravely express their views and emotions. The painting competition provides a platform for students to showcase themselves and their talents, helping to cultivate their self-expression abilities.

Painting Themes:

Participants can choose any inspiring and widely applicable themes, such as environmental protection, cultural exchange, future visions, daily learning, parent-child relationships, school silhouettes, classmates and friends, etc. Participants can provide a brief description of their artworks within 50 words.

Submission of Artworks:

Students participating in the Competition do not need to register separately. They can directly email their up to two artworks to the email address announced by the organizing committee. The email accompanying the artworks must clearly state the student’s country name, city name, school name, grade level, student full name, gender, contact phone number, and contact email address (or parents’ email address can be provided). Incomplete information may result in the organizing committee being unable to contact the student, and such submissions will be considered invalid.

Schedule:

The Competition will be conducted in two phases. The start date of the first phase is July 13, 2023, and the deadline is January 12, 2024. The start date of the second phase is January 13, 2024, and the deadline is May 12, 2024.

Evaluation Arrangement:

Students can submit their artworks at any time within the aforementioned time periods. The organizing committee will conduct evaluations every two months based on the submissions and select outstanding artworks to announce the evaluation results. Some of the outstanding artworks will be showcased in the news and culture section of Canada Canlives.

Grouping:

The Competition is divided into different age groups: elementary school group, middle school group, and high school group.

Competition Rules:

  1. Artworks can be of any subject, theme, or style, including oil painting, watercolor painting, sketches, colored pencils, computer AI art, etc.
  2. The brief description of the artwork can be in the student’s local language and English, with English description being mandatory.

Participation Fees:

  1. Registration fee: $5 USD (Please ask from the organizer or co-organizer for payment method).
  2. Co-organizing schools or institutions’ participants are exempt from the registration fee.
  3. The participation in the competition, organized by the school, is exempt from registration fee.

Scoring Criteria:

Artworks will be evaluated based on creativity, technical presentation, thematic expression, etc.

Judging Panel:

The judging panel consists of experts and senior professionals from the organizing countries, as well as professional artists, education experts, and professionals in relevant fields. The diversity of the judging panel will be ensured, covering different art styles and cultural backgrounds.

Award Categories:

  1. Established awards: Champion, Runner-up, Second Runner-up, as well as Outstanding Awards, Creative Awards, etc.
  2. Special awards: Most Expressive Award, Most Innovative Award, Environmental Award, Best Participation Award, etc., to encourage students to showcase unique ideas and styles in their paintings.
  3. Special Scholarships: Awarded students will receive special scholarships of varying amounts from co-organizing schools.
  4. All award-winning authors will receive electronic versions of certificates and corresponding cash prizes.
  5. All participants who successfully submit their artworks will receive electronic participation certificates.

Promotion:

The competition will be extensively promoted through school notices, social media, student parent groups, webmail, newspaper, etc. Collaboration with schools, community organizations, and art institutions will be done to expand the reach and participation.

Artwork Exhibition:

After receiving the artworks, the organizing committee will conduct preliminary screenings and gradually showcase the selected artworks on the Canada Canlives Media website. The exhibited student artworks will be provided with corresponding labels, introducing the student’s name, age, school, etc. Additionally, the organizing committee will invite students, parents, teachers, and the public to visit the exhibition online, providing opportunities for interaction and learning. Award-winning artworks will be exhibited in different countries by the respective organizers or relevant venues to expand the influence of the artworks and artists.

Follow-up Activities:

The organizers will organize participating students to attend painting workshops, art exchange activities, or exhibitions to further stimulate their creative enthusiasm and provide opportunities for learning and communication. Opportunities for promoting award-winning students, such as showcasing their artworks in schools, communities, and media, will be provided.

Submission of Artworks:

Each student can submit up to two artworks. Artworks must be submitted in electronic format, with a file size not exceeding 50MB. Physical mail submissions will not be accepted.
